How make 09 reefer CA compliant?

Yeah but it requires replacing the TRU unit for a compliant one on your Reefer trailer.
There's used ones available that aren't terrible expensive

 

Before you lay down any dollars check it with CARB first. The same with "new" units. The fast buck boys are waking up to a new market and there's a lot of false claims out there.

 

The only way to upgrade an older reefer unit is to replace the unit with either a ThermoKing S600 or S700 Precedent, which are CARB Compliant forever.

You can also purchase a used Carrier X4 7300, 7500 or 8500 or 8600 Vector (which are CARB Compliant for seven years after manufacture), or you can purchase a Carrier EES kit (Engine Emission System) (which is a approved Tier 3+ Diesel Exhaust Filter) for it for about $9k, and it will extend the initial seven years compliance to be compliant forever.

You can also purchase the Carrier’s newest model, the X4 7700 for $32k installed, which are compliant forever.
