How many windshields do you go through?

Yes I am old. Read the top of my screen shot to see just how old.

 

1 half, passenger side, in 3 years. And that was a chip that was in it when I bought it, finally started cracking.

You're following too close.

 

My rock hits are from 2 lane roads coming from the vehicles heading the other way.

 

My last two left side windshields have come from rock hits from vehicles traveling the opposite direction. It drives me crazy.

 

Hopefully I dont go through a windshield. It is why one wears a seat belt. (confusing the point of the thread lol)

 

It’s crazy for sure. Those bouncing stones are like skipping a flat rock across a pond. Sometimes they get some distance. I’ve had some hit the glass and have no clue who kicked it up or what direction they were going. Had a little car pass me one day in Austin that kicked up a leaf spring u-bolt that looked like it came from a small lawn service type trailer. Hit the wiper blade and broke it but didn't hurt the glass. The thing sat on the top of my hood for a few miles until I got thru downtown to stop.

 

Another thing that is frustrating is when everytime you wash and polish you notice new little dings in your Stainless grille, visor, and mirrors from stuff getting thrown at you from a road surface. Than you find a spot light bulb or a headlight cracked from one too. Lol!

(c) Windshield condition. With the exception of the conditions listed in paragraphs (c)(1), (c)(2), and (c)(3) of this section, each windshield shall be free of discoloration or damage in the area extending upward from the height of the top of the steering wheel (excluding a 51 mm (2 inch) border at the top of the windshield) and extending from a 25 mm (1 inch) border at each side of the windshield or windshield panel. Exceptions:

(1) Coloring or tinting which meets the requirements of paragraph (d) of this section;

(2) Any crack that is not intersected by any other cracks;

(3) Any damaged area which can be covered by a disc 19 mm ( 3⁄4 inch) in diameter if not closer than 76 mm (3 inches) to any other similarly damaged area.

(d) Coloring or tinting of windshields and windows

 

More often that’s what has happened. Have noticed that jacked up pick-ups with over size tires are the primary culprits.

 

Usually both replaced at beginning of every dpring
