IV been seeing truckers carry around those big 100oz mugs you can get at the truck stops. I originally thought you really only put water or tea in them but IV been noticing guys feel them up with soda , or coffee. Wouldn't that soda be flatter than a blow out and that's just too much coffee for the day .
How much coffee? 100oz?

I used to carry a gallon mug insulated from Pilot. It rides on the cab floor ahead of the shifter with lid on it.
Coffee in it is still warm next morning. Which was a very important part of putting away 1000 to 1500 miles next day.
We do not do sodas on road. If we crossed a mountain pass at 12000 feet after soda at 5000 feet there are unnecessary and unwanted problems.
In addition three green insulated stanley thermoses hold additional coffee boiling hot. Its good to 30 hours.
I go through one or two pots of coffee daily and nightly for years.
I still go through a pot daily if I need to.D.Tibbitt, truckerman75103 and buddyd157 Thank this. -
assuming the container has a screw top lid. It'd be the same as a 2 liter bottle for keeping the soda from being flat. Granted a 2 liter would be cheaper. But I am guessing that container keeps it ice cold longer. Just like it keeps it piping hot longer.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
when i was working, i'd buy a large cup of iced tea. then take sips all night long. byt the time i got back to the d/c center, it would of course not be icy cold, but it still tasted good.
i'd sometimes buy a large hot coffee, and again, sip it all night long, and in the morning, again, now it is like cold coffee, and at that time of the morning after my shift ended, it just tasted right.
i cannot say i ever seen that 100 ounce cup however.
and yes as for soda, they do go flat, but it (to me) was still drinkable.truckerman75103 and x1Heavy Thank this. -
I would have a pitcher of iced tea at breakfast or dinner depending on the sitaution. ESPECIALLY when heading into Nevada west in summer or Sonora or some other area like west of salt lake. Those fluids are vital.
Yes I pee'ed like a stallion often, but the body is not allowed to dehydrate which creates really serious problems FAST. Part of the problem is with my own health I have had heatstrokes before. They are very dangerous to me. The last three incidents of that in trucking and in childhood were very near things and strictly excessive heat and no fluids.
The Spartansburg incident where I was in a 150 degree cab plus when I woke up to a failed AC in the dead of summer steaming heat outside under that blazing sun... It took 5 pitchers of sweet tea over ice to the top over about 11 hours before the kidneys produced enough fluid to eliminate body waste. Once I had that happen I knew I will be ok and safe to travel.
Thats the other side of the problem Its called water toxicity. If you forced a gallon into a baby in two hours, its dead. If you forced that into a adult fast, its really sick. Then organ failure and dead in a few days.
The human body is a totally amazing machine in survival situations in extremes I would never believed it. But there it is. In the end fluids like bottled water by the case under the bunk is worth your life some days.
I do have one battle rudeltaktik (Wolfpack) for no #### emergency immediate problem of hydration in body when it fails to function properly in the nerves.
Children's liquid pedoylite in bottle form, a qaurt for 5.00 store a few of them. Use one at a time at a steady rate until your body "Oils up" like the Oz Tin Man being oiled and moving again nicely.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
A few years ago I would drink a 32oz mug and 64oz thermos of coffee a day.
x1Heavy, Upinsmoke, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this. -
That makes sense

Some guys drink that 100oz empty, then that have that big vat available to pee in while they're going down the road.
That's probably why lots of them just drink Mtn Dew.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
They charge $2 for a small coffee.
Same price for 100 oz.
Born yesterday?x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I just use my old Stanley thermos. 32 oz. In the winter I usually do two a day, but in the warm months 1 is enough before switching to bottled water.
