How much do yard jockeys make?

    Newbie here, and haven't been in trucking since1972. As an interested outsider looking in it seems to me in W. Tn. everyone is looking for drivers. I'm at the age where I need some-
    thing to do more than I need the money.........still I wouldn't (yard) work for less than 12 or 14 dollars per hour. In my day we had to pull our own trailers, no jockeys to do it for us. I think
    the new Freightliner I drove was $32,000. or something like that. If memory serves, 19in.
    sleeper, air slide, heated mirrors, 350 with a 13 sp. noting fancy. What I'm trying to say is
    my new Toyota pickup was that much.......and it ain't nothing fancy either!!

    The thread is 3 years old. Part time at our carrier is $12/hour. Full time around $13.50. If FT you top out at $15/hour after three years. On a side note... that pay scale extends to our dockworkers as well.
