Then maybe trucking ain't for you...
Old trucks have to be maintained, new trucks have to be maintained.
What shape will you be in when that NOx sensor you need isn't in stock anywhere, and you're truck is stuck at the dealer a month waiting on parts? Or waiting 5 or 6 days on a simple warrantied repair?
I can spend a ton on maintenence, if it gets me back to work.
If you're not making enough to maintain your equipment, you need to make some changes.
How much is your payment?

Let me put it this way, after being on the spot market for 5 years now, any payment over $2500 per month, with my relatively high maintenance cost which is inevitable if you bought a used, over 500 000 mile truck, would have been too difficult for me to like it, most likely impossible to stay afloat.
Notwithstanding inflation, higher costs of maintenance, fuel, we had seemingly better rates in the last 20 months.
One could think that it was easy to make the last 20 installments but you still have 30 more coming when the rates won't hold up as well.
Let's not kid ourselves anymore, $5 per gal is a game-changer if your fuel mileage is less than 6.5 mpg.Last edited: Mar 5, 2022

Seriously, wait until that Tesla truck is fully released and has support infrastructure for charging. I think they’re 250,000-300,000$. The fuel savings alone will pay for the truck payment leaving you with most likely a little more net per week in the end. They’re guaranteeing 1 million miles without major problems. Assisted auto pilot, center position seating. Like driving an amg Mercedes but a big rig instead.

I did ~60,000 miles last year I’m not even going to do the math to figure out how many decades it would take me to “save” that much in fuelRubber duck kw Thanks this. -

What was your maintenance cost for 2021?
bumper Jack Thanks this. -
Every time I want to pay off the truck or put reserves, another thing comes out, KW 660 2010, around 750,000 miles on it. But who knows how many it's for real. I got it after 200 miles were put on it after rebuilding. Maybe they changed the miles. They didn't want to reveal how many miles the truck had when they got it on auction. The truck does come from the fleet. But I bought it since it had maintenance records. They did rebuilt and maintained it, ran it for two years then sold it to me. It was served regularly, but they let it run a bit too long between oil changes for my liking.
I was so lucky the first year, I couldn't believe it. Spent a couple thousand every few months. I'm a bit hopeful that maybe this year after things coming out for nine months, I might have a peaceful next year. But every month I am less hopeful.Last edited: Mar 5, 2022

My 10 Kw t660 has 1 million 150k showing,
I ran it for 6 months, 2 months was waiting on a Nox sensor for Freightliner
This 16 Freightliner I’ve owned now for 3 years, but payment is only 1120/month.
It sat parked for September of last year, just back to running it this week.Big Road Skateboard, Chieftains and Beaver9 Thank this. -
I believe they’re shooting for 800-1000 miles
