How realistic is it to make 75-80k a year eventually?

If you think I meant to be offensive I assure you I didn't. I agree that China gives lots of good advice here and I personally have benefited at times.

I made enough money and invested it, so I no longer have to work. Retirement plans & rental property. Any driver can do it! Over 25 yrs on the road, almost 30, with no regrets about the career. Never got tired of OTR. Moved to a warm climate, Las Vegas! Wife is 30 yrs. younger than me, time to be home more.

It is possible to make 70k+ per year in trucking, but i think its safe to say you won't do it working 55 hours per week.

Going into my third year as an OTR driver, I am hoping to get between 60-70k this year, including bonus, but I expect to work 70+ hours a week to make that.

If I went into more specialized freight, I could probably earn more with the same effort, or the same with a bit less hours working.

As others have said though, I would say to keep your current job if that is an option. If it's not, or if your job is making you hate life, well, maybe consider it then.

I was an IT support technician before becoming a driver. My job was moved to Serbia by NCR. I decided my next job would be one than can't be shipped overseas.

You can make $100,000+ as a tanker driver in the North Dakota oil fields working 65 or so hours a week.

I read somewhere that Schiender drivers get 6 days off a month, is it possible to skip your days off and work Instead ? Will they force you to take a break ?

Most places expect a 34 hour reset instead of running a recap.

34 hour reset is not mandatory. One could run every single day and still have hours.
