So I am curious for a beginner maybe starting out with a new company any company or a Mega what are are their non negotiable items that you will get fired for?

    Hitting something?
    Backing into something?
Not taking a load to go home?
Talking on cell phone w/o headset?
    Carrying a passenger?
    Being late?
Sure a ticket wouldn't hurt unless you get too many of them...

Who do you report to? Is there a boss you meet with or speak with every so often?

(Let the good times roll :D)

    Drop the word negotiate.

When they are finished with you for the tinests of infractions you are gone. Under the bus. kicked out like a abused cur. No love lost. You will feel violated, abused etc. Save it for the beer when you get home.

Those kinds of firings are the worst. You will pull into the yard and your boss or dispatcher is standing with arms akimbo at your usual parking spot. You know then you are finished. Out.

Now. The funny side. I promises you will love this.

A worker with our Paving Crew a shovel man collected from a big box store corner for the day conflicted with our Backhoe.

    KLUNK! knocked cold.

We drug him into the shade tosses a wet towel cool on him and continued working.

4 hours later he wakes up,shakes it off back on the shovel.

Docked 4 hours for sleeping on job.

    Now. Me.

Big pile of hot blacktop mix back into spot. Now... heh, this is a human thing follow me closely.

When I am against the paver his big finger decides how exactly little bit goes into the pit above his tracks and burners. dab dab dab dab and dab and dab down the driveway we go Paving.

One day he's onery. More profane than usual. We are scared of him. We are pretty profane ourselves but this was the top dog.

I backed to his paver more slowly and gingerly like a kid fresh from trucking school.

(**BLAST OF VERBAL ABUSE**) then that hand swept down like a Roman Emperor condemning a gladiator to death.

    I eyeball him.

    ?

G-D-N your eyes. Stabs big finger down Begins to tremble and hop in his anger.

I pull on the PTO. Mack snorts and lurches against the lift.

T H U M P. such stupidity such basic idiotic dumb slapstick cartoon bs expensive loss, waste etc.

    Hes on my fuel tank
FIRED GIT< FIRED FIRED FIRED FIRED YOU *&^%$

I start walking, 12 miles roughly 5 hours.

HEY get back here SHovel this first.

    Then start walking 5 hours.

next morning sunrise. Phone rings. HEY YER LATE *&^%$

Right. Off I go. Back to work high ho...

So it wasn't come get your truck fixed, it was come get fired.

Trucking #### isn't for the meek.

Funny now but probably wouldn't be funny heading down a road with cars up your ### and for reason you have to turn your truck around or back it up the ####ing street, or maybe getting stuck in a shopping center parking lot. ‍♂️

Where I am at it depends on the circumstances. Plenty of guys have hit stuff and kept their job. A few of them hit things, badly. Like you are backing, you hear the *Boom* and then instead of stopping they press the fuel peddle even more.

I do know trying to drive under a low bridge is pretty much an auto fire where I'm at.
