Well it is state by state but that doesn't sound right at all, I would go back and try to talk to someone else? Was it like the front desk person telling you that? They aren't usually the brightest people. Ask to talk to someone involved with the program directly.

It was the lady over it n she also said she's never heard of cdl training costing $4000 I would never make over 40k my first year just a total dick I'll try at my home time office

You do not have to be on food stamps....but being on food stamps or unemployed will put you above those that aren't. Which is good because sometimes they run out of money for a little while.

For those wondering, the reading comprehension and math is not difficult, or at least I did not think it was. I took them this morning, they made me take the reading comprehension twice, apparently if you ace it they think you cheated and will make you test a 2nd time with a different test. No biggie, I aced that one and did the same fore the math. They did comment I must have memorized the tests and answers, I commented some of us in the world actually received a decent public schools education.

When did you start the wioa process?
-
I started 2 weeks ago. The process in California, like most things that are Government run are slow. I had to sign up for an orientation, fill out a informational form. Once I had that completed, then I had to be scheduled to take the test, that was this morning. I am now waiting on an appointment with a WOIA Counselor, not sure how long that takes, both are extremely busy I was told. I have spent more time waiting on them to schedule the next step than the entire CDL Class is. I am not sure why I can't schedule ahead of time.

I think thats just one of those people that do there job ####ty in spite of how they hate it, like many of the lovely people at the truck stop counters....
For me theres many unemployment offices for each town in my general city area, if its the same for you try going to a different office, cause that doesnt sound right at all. -
thats what most of the process is, just waiting, the actual stuff requiring effort is like 5-6 hours of your time tops. Good luck passing the test, told you it was nothing to worry about.

The process is not done at the department of labor or the unemployment office, it's called an "American Job Center" they used to be called different names state by state but they renamed them all to make it less confusing.
