Call me cynical, but figure 2.13 fails to account for the four-wheeler that will inevitably be stopped on the stop bar in the northbound right lane, blocking the truck's ability to perform a button hook turn.
If you are turning from a single left lane turn you have to end up in the nearest lane, which in this case would be the left lane on the 3 lane road. You can use the other lanes to make the turn, but you have to finish in the left lane. Hopefully, this post doesn't get me banned...
Trailer tracking. The longer the vehicle, the greater the difference will be between the front axle's path and the path that the axles behind it follow. Later axles will follow a sharper turn.
