1.I'm trying to figure out. How he got to the highway and didn't use city streets.
2.Where do you live? Some companies may not be hiring you because you are out of their hiring range.
3.Companies are not trigger happy about hiring somebody who has when through 2 orientations and didn't make the cut. There's a lot of money in transportation and room and board cost. So if u do live in a decent area you may want to look for a place near you in which a company doesn't have to spend lots of money to get you to their orientation.
@ The person who mentioned about cdl. Just because you get your cdl doesn't mean you are able to drive. You go around a few blocks and if you can not manage to kill anyone or hit a curb. You will have a piece of plastic. I made a 74 on my driving test, and so did most of the people in my class. The highest grade was an 84 by the best driver in our class who had baking experience from doing yard dog work.
Transam may pick you up, but beware of them trying to get you to sign a lease to purchase their truck.
How to solve an oxymoron?

Yea, I don't know about renting one, and I still would want someone with me when I drive. As for seeing an experienced driver in action, yes I have. The guy I have been dating has been driving for 11 years and I've been with him on the road several times this year. That's what got me interested in this career. lol As for how I feel about the training with automatics. Now I am angry. At the time of training, I didn't mind, as I felt it was one less thing to think about when learning about space management, turning and backing. Frankly, I don't think 4 weeks is long enough for training, especially with manuals. If safety is such a big deal to everyone, as it should be, why do they rush people to learn? Everyone learns at a different pace. I feel much more comfortable shifting in traffic since taking the refresher and my backing is not bad considering I've only done it about 4-5 times. Practice makes perfect. Thanks for your input, Aireal.

Our instructor would drive the 10 speed from the sponsoring company's yard in that town to the area where we, the students, would practice shifting. Other days he would drive to the area that was an hour away and by a little town. I thought that was very strange and have since told the director of the school about that. Then he would drive the truck back to the town the driving school was in. He never let us drive the 10 speed in town. When I asked the director about that, she alluded to insurance and also said, "We don't want you to hurt anybody." To which I replied, "I drove in (mentioning the BIG city's name) and didn't kill anyone or run over any cars. And that city is 20 times bigger than this town." She had no response to that.
