Thank you for the replies all.

It's unfortunate that so many companies can be so misleading in their job postings. I hope something can be done to fix that in the near future.

A driver can get about 120,000 miles a year. So that times they're pay per mile and you will get a close to real pay. They like to say average pay or our top drivers make $$$. This way if you don't make the same. It must be your not working hard enough.

You have Electronic log books today with GPS wired to the truck engine. So it's not like the old paper logs anymore. If you drive more then 5 mph, that driving time the ELD will switches it automatically once the truck is moving. We are logging real driving time today.

Dozens of drivers on this forum left IT for trucking. A few airline pilots did the same.
A few married couples rented out their home and live in the truck.

Nothing is going to get fixed, you are smart and did some homework and asked around. This is the due diligence people talk about and this a great place to do it.

I worked at Gulf states intermodal and we had a guarantee of $1000/week minimum for company trucks, 2500 minimum for leased operators.
If you didn’t make the min, they’d bump it up to it.
The last year I was there, they took it away because some of the company guys didn’t want to work as had, knowing they’d get the $1000/week.

3.5 years or so on min pay and I may have got it 5 times, usually on holidays where receivers were closed.
