It is possible to begin a trucking job in the afternoon. This works mostly on 'travel days' or days when it's driving only. Of course, you will likely need to pick a load in the morning and also deliver in the morning on another day.
Only if the shipper and consignee operate 24 hours can you really choose when you begin your day and what time you wish to deliver the load.
And make no mistake, your dispatcher won't have any issues reminding you whether or not the load is time-sensitive.
How variable are hours for independent contractors.

Start driving in the afternoon means looking for parking very late at night or before sunrise in the morning. Good luck with that.

Just a thought. Trucking costs and the falling market make revenue difficult. When you add restrictions it makes things more difficult. If you wanna thrive and make more revenue, you may want to do what the customer wants, not the other way around.
