Cool! I'm glad you decided to go to w & S They need good Teams to run their Coast to Coast runs! And they do get them, I had several out of Ca. to NC and despise Teaming! My wife is not going to ever ride with me let alone learn to drive these critters, She is in her RN stuff and she can stay there while I play with this.
You made mention that you could go out with an additional trainer if you don't think you can swing it, I suggest that when you get there that you buckle down and pay very close attention to what is going on in Orientation like you did in school, I think with you are Hubby doing so well in school you will do just fine when you get out in your own truck, they won't push you for a while and they will start to applying a gradual pressure, With a single dispatcher beings that you are teams you will really like what they do for you, They let you figure the route but normally it is cut and dried, They pretty much let you fuel where you want to, If you want to get the bonuses it should be pretty easy to get those, with you running teams, your idle will be very low but I know the numbers will be different for teams, I'd just get accustom of the whole new life style and then figure the bonuses out and everything else, They are far from being a bottom feeder, In Orientation you will be given a "Red Book" Keep it close to your heart when you get in the truck, It will have every number that you will ever need to have in case of any situation that may ever come up! (I still have mine) And I'm here if you have any questions!jungledrums Thanks this. -
Hey I have never been acknowledged like this before! I guess I made my speech earlier! Thank You Bowing! And to tell you the truth now! Leaving there to go to a mega mega for 6 CPM was the biggest mistake I have ever made!jungledrums Thanks this.

Thanks!
We plan on paying very close attention during orientation and going the extra mile in any way that we can! I'm looking forward to seeing the "Red Book" you talk about!
wd40 Thanks this. -

Easier said then done, I'm thinking I'm going local or even on a yard dog for a while, I did the very last of the paperwork before they send ya for the "Cough" Test! The company I'm going with is expanding into my area and I see management and several other opportunities in the near future!wd40 Thanks this. -
That sounds awesome! I hope the best for ya!wd40 Thanks this.

The Chinese have a saying about that: "Be wary what you ask for. You might get it." Did the management thing in trucking. It sucked being responsible for what drivers did and didn't do, and being home every night turned out to be no good for me. I was unhappy and I unintentionally made everyone else at home unhappy. Management recruiters are about as honest as driver recruiters. Anyone trying to get you to come in the office speak with forked tongue. I made less money, had more frustration and worked longer hours. Company pick up, fuel card and so called set hours were OK but totally not worth what it did to my family cooping a road hound up in an office. Take it from me; if you love driving the truck - never let anyone talk you into an office job. If being home is the big draw - take the time to find a local driving job. You can take the man out of the truck but you can NEVER take the truck out of the man. Drinking a bunch of beer every night won't silence the constant call of the road either. It'll make the whole situation worse and the Siren Song will actually be louder so you drink more to shut her up and she sings even louder. It's a snowball rolling down hill heading straight for H&!!. Trust me on that too. I'm back where I belong and happy. I don't drink and my wife, kids and I are happy again. In her words: We'd rather have a part time husband and father than a full time shadow of the man we love. GO!
But that's just me. Some folks were just born to do something. I was born to be an OTR driver. I have tried and tried to get out of it but nothing else I did made me happy. That might not be you and you might be happy in an office. I'm simply suggesting some very serious soul searching before turning in the keys. And if you do try something else and it isn't making you happy, don't pick up a beer. No amount of beer will fill the hole - pick up a set of truck keys. The missing element will be asphalt.
Best of luck to both of you. -
Well good luck too the both of you. For all the drivers that helped you here, thanks. This is what IMO, this site is best know for, HELP, with learning how to drive TRUCKS. Your main goal is NO ACCIDENTS, NO INCIDENTS, NO TICKETS. If you can at least go the next 5 years, for a start, it will open many doors for better pay down the road. Good Luckwd40 and jungledrums Thank this.

Good choice on the going to a technical college.
Good choice on W&S.
If it was me, I would want to go out with a trainer first and take copious notes. Get those "feet wet".
