The railroad crews actually had the river mostly open last Thursday, they had a path about 30' wide cleared near the highway, and were working to create another 30' wide channel when I went through about 1 in the afternoon.

Last month I drove CO 13 from Rifle to Craig (US 40). It was an easy drive but hardly any traffic then either.

I know you're kidding, but like I said, CDOT won't let semis on Hy. 82, however, some enterprising individual DID get stuck running their semi down a gravel road a short time back thinking everybody was stupid except them,,,

I-70 through Glenwood was the last stretch of Interstate highway completed, it was finished in the early 90's

On the positive, the railroads have the tracks cleared, inspected and open through Glenwood Canyon, as of 5 am Weds morning. Apparently they have reduced the speed even more than it was, and they are inspecting the tracks and roadbed multiple times per day, as well as still clearing debris.

For anyone considering the various alternate routes, if you're not afraid of the mountains, consider the 550/50/285 route, it's going to be slower, but there's going to be less idiots. I took the northern route Weds. night bobtail to Grand Junction to pickup a dropped trailer, it wasn't bad running it after 5 pm, most of the idiots and super truckers were parked, however, I ran it in reverse this morning with a light container. I'm not a religious person, but I was saying my prayers a few times, first there was the Mercer contractor pulling a UPS trailer afraid to go over 55 mph from Rabbit Ears to Silverthorne, which he in turn was pissing off the four wheelers, who decided to try and pass 6 or 7 vehicles at a time, I counted at least 8 close calls including a couple bikers who are #### lucky they didn't go down.

    Hammer166 Thanks this.
