An update I just got from a friend in W. Colorado who has contacts with CDOT, he's hearing there was a slide on Weds. night near MM 122 that has damaged the road surface both directions, the jersey barrier, the retaining wall, the bridge deck and they checking supports for damage. This is going going to be a clusterf of epic porportions.
Gatordude Thanks this. -
On a positive note, those who hate I-70 have an excuse to take I-40 to I-25.

I have a prediction...I say they will get this done, right before the snow starts flying for the season

Canyon will reopen Saturday, with a short stretch of two way traffic.
Good thing, too. Ran a Glenwood Springs load today. 7.5 hours from Littleton, that's ~4 extra hours. We're getting paid the extra mileage, but no thanks! -
In all seriousness though, pack a lunch and keep those eyes caffeinated. That scenic route of a detour seems killer in a bad way. -

As an update, CDOT hopes to have one lane open in each direction by Thanksgiving. Can you imagine what a bottleneck that will be? Way to go, Colorado,,,
