Isn't Chambersburg where the speed limit drops to 55, or is that Carlisle? If so traffic always backs up there.
-
It’s Carlisle. The “safety corridor” starts northbound near Exit 44/Allen Road and runs until after Exit 52/Middlesex/PA Turnpike. 55 mph.
Ironically, a couple of weeks ago there was an accident at the start of that safety corridor- the northbound on ramps were closed because a fire from the accident damaged the road. PennDOT had to repave part of road and as such traffic trying to get on I-81 northbound had to detour on backroads to get to the next northbound ramp!
This was a bad accident, especially one with kids involved and especially no survivors!

@ringo had a similar situation - ended his career. We talk often, you couldn’t imagine the impact to lives when this happens.
Luckily he’s still alive.
I think about it every time I get in the seat - it can happen in a split second.
RIP ODFL driver.Sons Hero, JoeyJunk, runningman0661 and 4 others Thank this. -

Everyone and the dog dead is crazy must’ve been square on hit ..vehicles are so safe that crashes keep getting worse due to speed . Campers never used to fly down the road but now pickups fully loaded drive like their empty but when something goes wrong that weight is pushing hard.. RIP
JoeyJunk Thanks this. -
Apparently the person in the camper was some kind of ATV racing champion……..

This is morbid to think about but I wonder if the RV driver did a pretrip on the RV before he started driving.
JoeyJunk Thanks this.
