I don't want to bore you with my failure stories. In short, I am broke with no marketable skills. Are you guys hiring? I am 36.

Not only will they hire you (provided your driving and criminal history aren't too bad) they'll train you and some will even pay you while they train you. You could be on a greyhound in about 48 hours on your way to get your CDL..

No criminal history. Couple of tickets in the last few years. Where to get started in Tacoma, WA?

How is the pay in trucking? How much will they pay to a newbie? I am divorced, so single. No kids.

    Keep us posted.
Pay varies a little bit from company to company.
Probably make about $55G - $65G your first year, after all training is complete and you're in your own assigned truck.
In other words, after you've completed all training; 12 months after that your pay will be approximately $55G - $65G.

What kind of tickets? Anything 15 mph over the speed limit?

You've got three options to get your CDL:

    1. Spend your own money at a CDL school.
    2. Use FREE gub'mint money (WOIA) at a CDL school.
    3. Go on the indentured servitude plan where a company pays for your CDL training and you agree to work for them for about a year. Plans range from 8 months to 2 years.

What kind of driving do you want to do (flatbed, tanker, dry van). Where do you want to go (I-5, east coast, lower 48, home every night)?

I have a speeding ticket, but not over 15 mph. The other one is illegal turn. I have no clue about what kind of truck I should/will be driving. So educate me on that. I am too broke to pay out of pocket for the CDL, and don't want the stress of dealing with the government. So I guess I am left with the 3rd option

Stevens Transport has a 12 month contract.
Transportation to the school is provided plus meals and lodging provided.
You might luck out and get the school in Denver, Colorado (Keensburg). It's a very good school. Your lodging is described as "apartment like hotel."
