Its all in the DM you have there. It was November of 2012. My DM was worthless and i tried to swap but could never get swapped. I Never got more then 2000 miles I was ready to bail on driving but the Mentor I had at swift was amazing and after we chatted for awhile I decided to leave and try a different company and I am very happy now. Last i hear that DM was fired for multiple complaints.

Yes that's the issue when you work for someone that is based miles away for your home town, SD is not one of the frequented places however they should of at least explained this to you if your just starting a career as a driver. If you have it in writing, that they've promised to give you home time then you could do something about it legally.

I'd like to give you guys an update. I called the company and "driver Support." Said they would get my dm to send me home. That was on Feb 13. As of today I am in South Carolina. I have not been home, and I am over 10k miles overdue for a PM because they are refusing to let me get to a terminal. I never got home, and I can't carry all my tools and stuff with me on greyhound. I am literally a hostage at this company. But at least the $850 a week paychecks are decent.

Have you declined loads that take you away from home? If you allow them to they will keep you out for good.

Then I would be on the phone with my DM telling them no. I am not a slave. Also you can check your tools with greyhound easy. It costs like 50 bucks but I used to ship stuff that way alot.

Man, you have got to get the heck out of that company. It is WRONG for any company to treat drivers this way, and they only do it because drivers allow it. It shouldn't be hard for you to find a better company. This is bottom-of-the-barrel crap right here.

I really don't understand why you are still there. I would have quit a long time ago. I wouldn't let my personal gear hold me hostage in a truck. If I had to leave it I would just leave it. The company never has to worry about replacing you. All they have to do is never let you go home. They have a guaranteed driver for the next ten years. Hell they don't even have to give you a raise. May not even have to you to keep you. Just give you enough to eat with.

You're still out? I'd ditch that truck at a terminal, have a mechanic sign off, call Uber and get a ride to Hertz or Budget and high tail home.

I'm pass through Sioux Falls twice a week and I'm telling ya, I see tons of daycabs up and down I-29 between Omaha and Fargo. You don't have to run OTR out of Sioux Falls unless you want to.

Just to let you in on something here bud.
There's nothing wrong with deadheading straight to the main terminal and ignoring all messages and calls about what you're doing on the way there.
Park the truck and trailer at the terminal. Walk in hand em your stuff and then bite the bullet paying to get yourself and your belongings home.

Fill up the tanks asap in case they shut the fuel card off. Get away from that company clean. No abandonment. Keep records of your messages saying you need to be home and the loads keeping you out in case they try to come after you for a 1,000 mile deadhead or something.
