Heavy eh? Probably fighting a slope upwards backwards too I imagine.
Ive had a few in my time that fought me even with a auto or manual.
All I can do is encourage you not to stress and try to find the manual for that auto either in the glove compartment or in google books PDF online for your model automatic. I hope that will help you understand what the auto wants from you and maybe just maybe help you get along with it.
I hope this works out because you would want a different truck if at all possible because if this is stressing you out and causing you to be... not as precise backing a heavy load you might hit something. Ive seen it happen in human nature. Even myself.
I could use some help please.

Creep mode is to assist you in backing slowly.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
If you sit too long in gear/ no brakes, no go pedal, it will abort creep mode.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Come on Gramps...welcome to the future..no need to manually shift 10-13 times just to reach 62 mph..a thousand times a day.
