Why do people think the insurance companies tell employers who they can and cannot hire? I am sorry but an insurance company cannot dictate who you hire or do not hire if you are willing to pay the rate they give you. That is an old excuse in the trucking industry that the insurance company won't cover somebody. Don't let my comment be construed that someone without a license or somebody with multiple points on their license or accidents cannot be told that the insurance company doesn't want to cover them.
I got fired and have a question

That highlighted part right there is the meaning.
When someone says the insurance company will not allow it, what they are really saying is "The insurance company will not allow it unless the company pays a lot more for insurance.:
So yes, the insurance company does say who can be hired by the simple expedient of pricing that person out of the market.
See, the more a driver costs the less the company makes. For any company it's stupid to hire a driver that not only costs more, but by past actions will cost more in the future via CSA score or wrecks or whatever caused the insurance to balk.
Oh, if they were a superior driver paying more is (usually) good for the company. A below average driver though. Nope.beastr123, SteveScott, REO6205 and 2 others Thank this. -
Exactly what he said.Farmerbob1 Thanks this.

did an dot officer or something give you a violation for that? or was it entirely internal?

I did not get stopped by DOT. I've never had a bad inspection either.

He doesn’t seem like the type who would lie... wait...
Seriously, why are questions like this even questions? In what world is it better to lie? People are much quicker to be understanding with someone who is honest and not ashamed to be humiliated. -
Yup. As an example, I dinged someone else's truck a couple weeks ago. I was pulling out of a really tight hole between two other docked trucks, and clipped off the fender mirror of the guy next to me while I was using my bumper to push two big rollaway dumpsters out of my way. I had gotten out and looked, and there was another driver from a couple trucks down watching my clearance.
To make a long story short, I counted on the other guy too much, and/or was paying too much attention to pushing the dumpsters out of the way. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he tried to warn me, but I did not see or hear him do so.
Fortunately the mirror bracket and the hood were undamaged.
I should have just knocked on the guy's door and asked him to move out from under his trailer.
When I spoke to the other driver, I owned it. When I spoke to my company insurance/safety rep, I owned it. No matter how or why it happened, it was my fault, because I was the only one moving.
All I have heard from Crete on the matter is a letter in the mail saying that I lost 5 safety points. No call from safety. No nastygram on the qualcomm. No requests to come to the office while I was on home time.
I screwed up. I owned it. I know what I did wrong, and what I will do differently next time. I suspect that if I'm stupid again, within a short timeframe, that's when I'll get a nastygram, *special* phone call, or a request for a meeting at a terminal. -
For you guys that like to creep while in off duty to avoid going on duty, I have some bad news for you. Some states (Oregon for instance) have a way to check your ELD for movement of more than a few feet while in off duty mode. I had an Oregon DOT officer show it to me during an inspection. The data isn't visible on our ELD, but they can see it on their equipment as well as RPM and MPH readouts.

This for this info..on the other hand..issuing a citation for that kind of infraction is like citing someone for not using their turn signal..there are a lot bigger fish to fry out there.x1Heavy Thanks this.

You would have to be a flaming jack ### to make an Oregon DOT look that deep into your HOS. They just skimmed over mine and were more concerned about my brakes and my BOL. And he was honestly a decent dude.
x1Heavy Thanks this.
