Company fine? That’s be the last check from them. A ######## “fine” for something that’s perfectly legal.LoneCowboy and Razororange Thank this.
-
They may have changed that policy

Not sure how well you can see it, but this is what I carry.... about an inch thick of foam inside of it

I can see it on the back window. I like it.
We have 2 low boys, one with fenders over the trailer tires and none on the gooseneck. The other has fenders on the gooseneck but not over the trailer tires.
The one without fenders over the trailer tires has been responsible for taking the front glass out.
The guy that did 25 years of floating with our company moving our equipment and other customers, I think has only had 2 times the front window broke. They ruled it the lift axle’s fault so it must be lifted when on gravel.
Also must travel at 50 to 60kph when on gravel roads. I don’t mind this speed as it helps keep the dust down.
I’ve only been floating our equipment for the last 2 years after that guy retired so I haven’t had a glass shatter yet. I did haul a back hoe which had its side window disappear somewhere on the road. Brand new glass installed a year before, gone. -
I've spent 10 of my 11 years of wrenching exclusively on heavy equipment. Why they use tempered glass on equipment windows instead of something more shatter resistant is beyond me.
Cattleman84 and Shawn2130 Thank this. -
I have a padded tarp with d- rings around the edge that fits over those windshields. $75 .........hell alot less than what the glass cost !
AModelCat Thanks this. -
The one the company supplied me had the padded two layer 18 oz tarp material but had 3 little 6 or 8 inch vertical pockets that I slipped strips of swim noodles in to hold the padding away from the glass. We had 5 small eyelets on each side and carried 6 6ft pieces of rubber rope that we could put through whichever eyelets worked.
The boss bought one window and thought that was enough. -
Mine doesnt have pockets, but that's a great idea. I just wrapped the bungees in several layers of electrical tape to pad them, but I like the idea of the noodles
