Like Trooper to Trucker has stated. Bet someone failed to pay the tickets, thus the license suspension

I get that, Trooper. So what I'm saying is: it's more than high beams alone. In all likelihood you're right - ticket ignored; appearance unmade.

Just hoped it'd go away.... doesn't work like that.

I wrote a ton of tickets and even stopped quite a few cars for high beams. I don't recall ever writing a ticket for high beams.

High beams won't get you a suspension, it is a 1 point violation. In California it takes 4 points in 12 months, 6 in 24 months, or 8 points in 36 months. In most counties you could go traffic school and it would have been dismissed. Tell us the rest of the story, what other violations have you had?

That inneresting, here ( I know it isn't ) if you were giving a seatbelt ticket which is a 0 pt non moving violation and when I retired it was $25.00. If someone fails to pay the fine the citation is passed on to DMV hq and the license is suspended.

For a list of point counts for the various violations, Ca DMV lists it on their website, as well as how many points for a suspension. https://dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/dl/vioptct

Last I knew, if you didn't pay the fine after mailing in the ticket or didn't show up as required, you were considered "scoffed" and your driver's license was suspended until you settled up with the court and dmv....It really doesn't matter how trivial the issued ticket was, nopay/noshow will get you suspended, as it should be....

In that case it was not due to high beams, but due to Failure to Appear, which is a misdemeanor. Before DMV suspends his/her license they are required to send a letter to the license holder advising them their license will be suspended on xx/xx/xx, which is 30 days after the letter is mailed. Not sure why the OP blew it off, but a CDL carries much more responsibility.
