A cop pulled me over east and south of Mechanicsburg PA once, we argued a DOT sign at that light that says bridge 13.6 for two hours in a open lot just before bridge. He was quite stubborn in his mission that I will not proceed to that bridge.
Turned out PennDOT paved 6 inches new blacktop and it's now a 13 foot bridge. He potentially saved my life that day probably.
I hit a low clearance bridge . . .

Same happened to me last year. There was a road closure and a detour. Got a few miles into it and there was a 12 ft train trestle. Started to back down to a turn around and as I cut the wheel to swing the trailer my two drives went into the wet grass and I lost traction forward and backward (super singles). Luckily a landscape supply outfit was right there and they sent out a dumper to chain up to me and yank me out. Could have been worse, and at least I didn't hit the trestle.

This was the way the receiver had routed trucks in - a phone call confirmed "Oh yeah, trucks go that way every day" - but I think I'm better off doing it this way than the "Oh . . . CRUNCH . . . I should have . . . " option.Pumpkin Oval Head and x1Heavy Thank this.

Have to buy another one. That magnetic tip is rather handy.

Schenectady, NY. That town is chock full of railroad tracks. I called the city cops when they arrived I had already measured and confirmed I could clear. They were having none of it. They blocked traffic while I backed up 1/4 mile. Thanked me for calling and sent me on my way.

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting that.

In the words of Daffy Duck....."I was just there!" In all seriousness, a lot of bridges in New York at first glance look suspect. I had to find an International dealer in Albany, NY last week. I called about this bridge and the lady made me feel so dumb lol, but when you're on the move, you only get one glance and it has to be a good one.

2 seasoned owner ops where my dad pulls hit a low bridge coming out of east boston on I-93 whatever tunnel that runs under the harbor. 2 in one week tried to squeeze a 13'6 under 12'9 or 12'6 I forget. They forgot Boston doesn't give you 1+ foot like ny doesbzinger, stwik, x1Heavy and 1 other person Thank this.

A truck driver missed his turn and went under one he thought he could make. He misjudged. A cop walks up to the door and says I guess you are stuck. The driver said no man, I was hauling the bridge and ran out of gas.
