You should move it from time to time so it don't get stuck-)
Another tip for OP.If they want you to slide all the way to rear for loading, after loading when closing doors look where the load ends in the trailer and slide to this point. If load is distributed evenly in the trailer it will make you legal or very close to it instantly.

I learned to write my tandem hole postion on the weight ticket. Then you can track your weight change per hole change. Sometimes each hole would move 250, 350, 450. When you are very close to axle max on drives & trail you might move numerous times. One time the reason I had to keep adjusting back and forth was a car cut me off in traffic between getting loaded and weighing. The load was coiled wire (slinky) and it shifted. Don't worry about not getting it done in the absolute minimum of re-weighs.

When I have to slide tandems to rear for loading, I leave the tandem pins retracted while it's parked. Some trailers need a Harmonic Convergence to get the pins out. Get loaded, pull onto level ground and slide your tandems and set your pins. JUST DON'T FORGET!!!

That's not a good idea some of those forklift drivers are rough at loading. All you have to do is rock the trailer a bit to relieve the tention on the pins.

Maybe on some new trailers. I have yet to see one, though.

We have some new, not so new. and some very stubborn older trailers they don't always trade in enough on the pool. I carry 6 cans of white lithium spray grease, and 6 cans of WD-40, and a large bottle of Dawn/water mix in a spray bottle....along with a determined mind and lotta girl power...especially with them stuck older trailer pins....makes it easier for me, oh they do reimburse me for all them sprays...
