I took a picture of this trailer brake handle.When I use it downhill it slow the truck but one time I used it too much and my trailer brakes start smoking so I have to stop.Any body know how to use it and when to use it.Thats my first volvo 2017 vnl truck.

real truckers hardly if ever use that trolly brake, what you call a brake handle. -

I drove for 20 years and never used it. Except to use it to verify that they are working before I leave a yard.

That hand break is just to test your breaks. Even if you grab it in a emergency its not doing anything.
Some older drivers know how to hold it to stop the trailer from coming around on them going down hill on snow.
If this is not your question, then only use that lever to test the breaks and tell every one you know to avoid what ever CDL school you went thru.Phoenix Heavy Haul, Diesel Dave and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
