Yep I lived in Oregon then. Like the President T said. "Windmills are a waste of money. Before they ever make a profit they fall completely apart. Bad investment, a rip off to the Tax Payers. I do not support them".

You can either admit that you dont know that the vikings were swedes and norwegians, ie scandinavians and cede the point because there has NEVER been a credible source for your claim that "the vikings tried and failed to settle the new world" or you can continue moving your goalposts because you dont want to face the fact that you dont know what youre talking about -

Ask anyone that has lived up in Alaska and they'll tell you about this, they especially like to talk about it with people that weren't born there.gentleroger and Tb0n3 Thank this. -
Your statement of "large population" on greenland is an indication of how poorly you understand "in the process of settling" greenland had settlements, it did NOT have anything close to a large population, then as now, iceland was more hospitable, current icelandic population is hovering around 300k, greenland TODAY is only about 50k.
Straight from vikapedia...
Norse colonization of North America - Wikipedia
"The Norse settlements on the North American island of Greenland lasted for almost 500 years. L'Anse aux Meadows, the only confirmed Norse site in present-day Canada,[3] was small and did not last as long. Voyages (for example to collect timber) are likely to have occurred for some time, but there is no evidence of any lasting Norse settlements on mainland North America.[4]" -
