Container drivers already have the worst reputation... Just saw last week two different drivers in Chicago watching videos on tablets while driving

    Luke628 Thanks this.

A lot of container drivers in Houston don't even speak English. Few years back when Barbours Cut started requiring TWIC cards a lot of them couldn't get in because quite a few were illegal aliens.

Yeah container drivers tend to be bottom of the barrel. Just hope I don't get dispatched that way tomorrow.

accidents happen all the time, poor quality drivers,, I always wonder who dresses them every morning.

I retired a couple years ago and a company that brokered a lot of high dollar freight to me for years started hauling rail containers in KC,KS,,They asked me twince to come out to Kansas and pick them out good used trucks, I find the and run them for a couple months getting everthing right on the trucks them go home until they call again,,
I have 3 million accident free miles,,the work is the easiest trucking I have ever done, run around 1000 miles/wk with in 150 miles of KC. Most of the drivers that run out of the UP rail yard in KC are pretty good,, there are some lousy ones too,
Company I am working with pays $1000/wk salary and most days the drivers are done by 3 or 4 pm,,,they are now looking to buy 4 more trucks the next month or so,,

There's no way that bridge column should have that much damage from a truck hit. Appears to have only spindly speghetti rebars in there similar design to the Cypress Freeway in Oakland California that collapsed. In the old days they formed up the tall columns and just dropped in concrete from the top. After the big earthquake they discovered all the horizontal stirrup rebars had broken off and ended up on the bottom of the columns, that's why the earthquake was able to destroy the columns.

Anyway, all that to say, kudos to Texas for building flyover bridges over flyover bridges over flyover bridges to keep traffic moving smoothly. It does look pretty to me, but none of those bridges will be standing in an earthquake.

Chi town can drivers are definitely their own entity. I was a greenhorn going through there many times when the Dan Ryan was under construction.

Man, talk about painting a group of drivers with a broad brush. I know several container haulers that I would put up against anyone. I also know several other non container drivers that should not be allowed to drive a tonka truck.

Vilhiem, browndawg, striker and 2 others Thank this.
