Hey, crazy weather across the west! We had a load going to Utah, got halfway across KS- told to turn around, go back to Kansas City and pick up a high priority Fed Ex load to Oregon instead. Got halfway across KS again- mandatory snow shut down. Been shut down for 18 hrs now.
Here's the thing- other company trucks are still driving. Stopping for fuel, saying the roads are fine and moving on. Mgmt says the road is still closed and won't release us to keep driving. Wth is going on with this? DOT says the roads are open
Ignoring mandatory road closures and keep driving?

Well, you’re getting paid to sit, right - so, kick back and relax.

I know some states like Minnesota and the Dakota's have no sence of humor regarding road closures...big fine if they see you out there or you go around a closing gate .
And you are on your own if you get stuck until the storm dies down .Lacyanne Thanks this. -
But you’re right - doesn’t fit my definition of ‘crazy’ in Kansas right now.
Tried calling MGMT and suggesting some weather apps, or common sense, or something? -
Yes, went over my DM's head. Mgmt seems to think they know something we don't. Could this be a FedEx thing? Like I said, other company drivers are coming through- but they may not have a FedEx load. This is messing up our next load at this point
blairandgretchen, Lepton1 and bzinger Thank this. -
OP you need to fill in the details, like the company name and how you are getting a fedex load. It may not be your company but FedEx telling you to stop.
Lacyanne Thanks this. -
It's CRST and this is an Air Freight load. If we left right now it would be late. If we left right now, we might be on time for our next load (doubtful).

I’m on US83 in Scott city KS the roads are iced bad and the salt isn’t helping much. If you get stuck in the ditch it’ll be hours until a wrecker can get you out.

Thanks for the update!
Swiss Mountain Dog and Ffx95 Thank this.
