They're giving away a car today at lunch. Big cookout and party atmosphere. Bunch of drivers here. The vehicle is a green Jeep Wrangler 2 door with hard top, lift kit, oversize tires, winch, and bumper jack. Very very nice. Heard they gave away a Fox chassis Mustang GT coupe a while back. I get entered in the drawing every quarter my safety record is clean.

Just learned the new trucks have no fridge; they're available but you have to pay for it through payroll deduction. And get back through the shop for installation.

Oh well, if that's as bad as it gets....

So far they're treating me quite well. And all the current drivers here are extremely happy to be here. The unanimous opinion here is that they will work you. That's what I need.

 

Signed a formal job offer today. Meeting the dispatcher tomorrow after the check ride, and truck assignment comes when I get the fuel card.

Hoping for a load assignment Friday morning that I can deliver Saturday to scan in.

Am told mostly Volvo trucks available right now, so yeah.

Met my dispatcher today, and got my truck. 2016 Freightliner auto with fridge, TriPak, and 1800 watt inverter. Also a better mattress than my old one. The AC will freeze you out if you don't set it right.

Dispatcher drove for six years before moving to dispatch.

Currently en route to Summerville SC with some tires, drop/hook there and head just north of Philly to live unload Monday morning.

I already know about the I-95 shutdown for the DNC. It will affect me. I'll deal.

So far this is like day versus night. Celadon is beginning to seem like a bad dream. (Got a bill from them today for that $1400.00 I told y'all about. They'll be waiting a long, long time.)
