Thanks KittyFoot. Man, I feel VERY fortunate with the course I took. The instructors are very professional and the equipment is top notch (I think the local Teamsters help support it since the whole truck is like a ad). It's all good.

I have to say you sure do develop a good relationship with the intstructor after days of driving and coaching, and I got to hand it to all you instructors out there. :biggrin_25514: My hats off to ya!

Talk about some instructors having the patience of a Saint. If she were still alive, I'm sure some students are enough to make Mother Teresa down a 5th of whiskey!!

hey now... I can double clutch very well...

pink, it's not a 'lower 48' mentality that is creeping up on Alaska. It's a "me first" mentality that is taking over the world. Nobody has any idea what "patience" means any more. i.e. last summer when I was spraying yards I would have to drive the tanker through town, 900 gal, does get kinda heavy, especially since the truck is almost as old as I am. Anyway, at least once a week a car would hustle past me on a 4 lane road before it turned into a 2 lane road just so they could pull into the Kwik Trip that was literally 1 block farther down. It's not like I was driving 15 mph either. It took a while to accelerate but I was going 30... Anyway, that always bugged the crap out of me, but there is nothing that I can do about it. Hopefully these people will start to understand that getting their doughnut 33 seconds quicker isn't worth an auto accident... hopefully they start to learn...

    LMAO!!!

Well, it's close, but the "student driver sign" on my trailer was actually BIGGER and in purple.

During one of my drives on the Mitchell Hwy between Fairbanks and North Pole, a wise trucker stayed way-the-hell back. VERY smart dude. I mentally thanked him.

Most people are super cool. :biggrin_255:

Thanks, Swaps. Yeh, you're so right. "Me, me, me, me.... " Totally, absolutely no patience and everything needs to be instant.

During my actual CDL test, a woman did the same thing to me that folks did to you at the Kwik Trip. Four lane road in town.....I was in the right lane, she passed me on the left, zipped in front of me so I needed to brake, and then turned off to a espresso stand not far after passing me! LOL!

She did use her turn signals. w00t.

My dad, a retired trucker/rigger, beat into my brain: "always plan ahead, look for escape routes and account for others mistakes. Go through the 'what if's...'"

He never got into any accident his whole career...just speeding tickets!

I love driving trucks....right now anyway. The novelty will wear off, but I'll savor the moment. Tractor-trailers are just so bad ##### and HUGE! I would hug a truck right now if I could......

    OK......I must be weird.

The class is over, but I'm planning on swinging by the school before I head back to work next week and take a photo just for you, MUSTANGGT (I work a 2 week on, 2 week off schedule on the North Slope in Alaska...yeh, its sweet!).

Here's a picture of the tractor though. It was so friggin awesome and shifted so smoothly, even a total newb could shift decently.

This is my current ride. Nothing fancy, but really smooth and decent power. Sounds like a good gig. I would like that schedule.

    Whoa!! That's a bewt, MUSTANGGT!

Well, I know I don't know much, but it looks pretty fancy to me. I love red rigs, and that one is absolutely GORGEOUS and rather "sporty" looking. :love7:

Thanks for posting your rig, Bud!
