I'm thinking about coming over to IRT. I live in Florida and have talked to a recruiter. They want me to come on board with the pump truck division. I've been driving 22 years but haven't done liquid tanker before. My question to the current employees is what kind of money could I realistically expect to make per week? If you don't want to post numbers in the thread feel free to dm me. Thanks for any info you can offer.

I would say 2500 miles a week is a safe number. Some weeks more, some less, different driver managers will run you differently as well. There are too many variables to truly give you a accurate estimate. And I know that's not what your looking for but willing to talk to you in pms.

I will say I have a different view of the company now than I did when I first started. I've been through some growing pains, I've been to points of "if things don't pick up I'm gonna have to look elsewhere". I'm glad I've stuck it through here. I will say I'm in a place I want to be till I have enough saved up to pay cash for my own rig.

I'm still a newbie/rookie here so and don't have years in the company like some of these guys and gals.

I have a pump truck. I've pumped off once myself and helped offload another driver that was having issues with his pto. I've been here right at 6 months if that helps answer your question?

I was curious about how often a pump truck had to pump on/off. It's good to see that it's not an every load type of scenario.
I see a lot of the senior guys post about frequently doing drop&hooks at customer locations. As a newer driver, how often do you see those type of loads vs only dropping/hooking at tank washes and IRT terminals?
Also as a newer driver do you have the ability to run the longer runs I see others posting about on here? I like the longer runs where I have a couple days in between pickup and delivery. I've been running coast to coast for the last 5 years and prefer those type of runs but I'm also more than willing to to hop around on some short runs too, as long as I'm not sitting around a lot.

On a side note I do have to say thank you to everyone on this thread for all of the info and advice that's been posted over the years. This is definitely one of, if not The, best company threads that's on TTR.

I do regional and go to Canada so my weekly mileage and pay will be different than someone who does 48 state only. The Canada border crossing pay makes up a significant portion of my weekly earnings. If home time isn't a factor I do run about 3,000 miles per week and it is rare that my loads exceed 600 miles doing regional. Most of my loads are drop and hook and the few that are live load/unload don't take too long, anywhere from 30mins to 1.5 hrs. Of course that changes if you have trucks ahead of you and you have to wait your turn.

The long coast to coast loads do have a lot of time on them and if you can't deliver early and have to sit on it then that will affect your miles. I am currently dispatched on a 2600 mile load with 6 days. I am loading it only and will drop it at a terminal and someone else will have 5 days deliver it.

I don't have a pump tractor so I can't comment from personal experience, but from what I have heard from pump drivers, they don't have many pump loads.

That's what I wonder most about them is how long the hauls are for OTR drivers

I load in Quebec Canada going to Washington State and California so they are long hauls. How many in comparison to short hauls, I couldn't really say. Apple juice from Washington State to Central Florida is a regular run for us also but how many of those do we do each week, again no clue
