Can confirm , they will not start you off at a higher rate even with verifiable experience because its not " with the company" which is a joke.. It looks like they want a revolving door of new drivers to get suckered in for experience at low pay and then quit after 6 months or a year especially with no more sign on bonus

Yes and you have to constantly "remind payroll" about it , same thing with layover... Or they'll make you move 100 miles to somewhere else on the day you should be getting layover so they don't have to pay it and repeat the process a day later

No kidding. During orientation the safety guy conducting it did say that if broken down to get a decent hotel. He didn't say why, but I later realized he was trying to do us a solid.

Of course, he no longer works here. o_O

It's been a couple years since I have needed a hotel and got that rate of breakdown pay, so don't bank on that setup working now.

Luckily that hasn't been my experience. I have had 1000 mile deadheads to get me to an area with available loads

Same here. A few weeks ago, I was deadheaded from Winter Haven, FL to Clovis, NM. I picked up a clean tank in Clovis and was deadheaded on to Tempe, AZ to pickup my next load. I have no complaints and never sit anywhere long enough to worry about layover pay. I only encounter a breakdown involving a hotel stay once every year or two, so I’ve never spent much time worrying about the policy on that either.

I don't work at IRT but I have been suspicious about their detention, lay over , breakdown pay etc . Everyone kinda says the same thing unfortunately

If you have an older Peterbilt it's hit or miss with breaking down.. another driver I know has broken down 5 times since February and it's been all "regular" hotels you would expect a trucker to be at if that makes sense.. and they won't give him a new truck

Which safety person is no longer there ?
