It feels slow, but the numbers aren't that bad. I just went through my pay spread sheets and these were the average gross weekly numbers for the same time period (first 12 weeks of the year) over the past 5 years.

    2021 $1625
    2022 $1995
    2023 $1961
    2024 $2145
    2025 $1887

Yeah there is a drop this year compared to 2024, but 2024 was much higher than previous years. Also, I had a bunch of extra downtime due to the truck needing repairs right around New Year and having to sit an extra couple days as the dealer was closed, then needing a PM soon after and that taking a couple days as the Winter Haven shop was backed up. And, to be completely honest, I haven't been pushing myself to run as hard as I have in the past. I can't put either of those factors on food grade tanker.

I think so too, especially with how easy and laid back it is working here. There have been cutbacks and there could be some improvements, but overall it's still a solid outfit that I hope to retire from.

You might be right, it’s just sucks that I'm coming at a bad time, my brother-in-law is saying that, it's a trash pay, I'm getting 56CPM right now at my current company, the company that he was putting me in the contact with hasn't contacted me yet so I'm still interested, but if they contacted me and I like what I ear, I might go with them instead, suck it up and do DryVan, I'm looking to make money at the end of the day, and I'd be taking a paycut if I come over to you guys.

.56 CPM is not bad money at all, especially if you’re at a company that keeps you moving enough to earn what you mentioned earning several weeks ago. You might not be completely happy with pulling flatbed, but you got your CDL, landed a decent paying job to build some verifiable experience at, and are currently on the road in a truck instead of being unemployed on the couch. I would try to focus on the good in your situation. 26 is still pretty young, especially when most companies have a stack of applications to sift through from drivers who are older, less of a liability risk on paper and in the eyes of their insurance company, have tens of years of experience under their belt, etc. Once you get a few solid years underneath you, and if you keep your driving record clean, you won’t have a problem getting onboard at a company you’ll be happier at.

Yeah, I get what you're saying, the company I'm in now is a decent company, they have a lot of loads, they keep you moving, tomorrow's check will be $1600. But, I don't know if I can do another 2 years here, it being flatbed isn't the only reason I want to leave, the driver-cam, the slow *ss truck, the way they operate ( We deliver one load per day, that's how many loads we have ) all these play a factor in me wanting to leave. I'm sure some people like it here, not me, and if I can find a company that can satisfy me, I'll go there. I don't require much: A decent CPM, no driver-cam, no slow truck ( go at least 70mph, can the mountains ), at least 2500mi a week, decent hometime, no big cities like NYC and that's it. If I can't find because I'm too young or my record than I start working on plans to leave the industry lol.
