I’m dropping and hooking at a customer in Florida right now. When I hooked onto the empty tank and did my walk around, this is how I found the dome lid and why it’s important to check up top before driving off.

That's very common for oil tanks . Its hard to dry them out and most places don't want a tank that has oil priors.Friend, Knucklehead, nextgentrucker and 1 other person Thank this.

I think $10 or $15 after 4 hours...
Got there at 8 AM, finished loaded at 6:40 PM, that's crazy, LMFAO!!!Friend and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
We used to be able to fuel at TA/Petro and PFJ, but just recently they have made it Loves only. In Canada we can use Petro Canada (different than US Petro) and Maplefields in NY right at the Canadian border. I don't travel deep into Canada so filling up in the USA is enough to get me into Canada and back out.Friend, nextgentrucker and Tanker_82 Thank this.

If that was Ft. Pierce, the empty I picked up there was open also. Have to make sure you check the top and the outlet. I have seen tank brought back to a terminal with the top still open and even one where the rear dust cover wasn't even put back on.Friend, nextgentrucker and Tanker_82 Thank this.

9hrs is extreme, but I have come to expect at least a 2 hour wait unless it is a drop and hook customer. It's just how things are. Learn how to use split sleeper so you can salvage your day.Friend, nextgentrucker and Tanker_82 Thank this.

It was Fort Pierce. It’s pretty common to find them like this at a lot of the places I drop and hook. Sometimes they will be closed but only have one ear and handle cranked down.
@nextgentrucker, DOT would probably ding you for having an unsecured hatch if you rolled into an inspection bay with it like that. Once you start making your way to the West Coast, beware that random inspections are very common in California.Friend, Rugerfan and nextgentrucker Thank this.
