It’s six hours each day for the Ag Exempt use now, Redtwin. (limited to the mileage radius around the dairies) To my understanding, though, they still want us to limit it to 90 minutes if it’s for personal. (groceries, etc) It is six hours per day grand total, though. It resets at midnight. I would look into that about going to the terminal. It seems legit to me.

I like the "Miles" limit better than the "Time" limit, what if you're in a 40 minutes traffic while going to or coming from Walmart? You're screwed... At Cypress, we have 50 miles for PC, Bynum? 30 minutes...

Anyway! These MOFOs are heavy as hell, and we gotta put in the cold? That's crazy...

Well that’s a pair of chains not just one that’s spread out some.

I will call safety and confirm before doing it. I usually have drivetime to get back to Winter Haven after I get empty, but there have been a couple occasions where I cut it really close and had to come steaming in the WH parking lot with 2-5 minutes left on the clock. I could do without that stress.

Confirm all of that about the six hours and what not when you talk to her if you don’t mind. I do remember receiving the new policy change on it a few years back. I think it was during Covid when USDOT lightened up on food grade. I just don’t remember the exact wording in the fleet message. I texted the driver I brought over to ask him before I posted that up there. He runs dedicated milk everyday under Clovis and uses it on every load. He replied “Yes, six hours PC each day with it resetting at midnight Florida time.”

Personally, I’ve always been leery of using it too much. It’s not that I don’t have faith in safety’s knowledge or the current regulations. It’s just one of those things where each DOT inspector might have their own interpretation on it during an inspection. I took a ding for split sleeper in Texas in 2018 or 2019, because the trooper swore it was only valid if I hadn’t left the state of Texas in the previous week. It was as if he was only familiar with intrastate HOS. Mike, our former safety guy looked into it and got it straightened out for me afterward. I’m shy about using PC too much for the same reason. Let me know what you get confirmed.

    Redtwin Thanks this.

Practice putting one on a few times when you’re bored and in a clean parking lot sometime. Don’t run over the cams or connecting pieces when you pull forward or back up to get on them. You can bend them if you do.

Easiest way to get on tire chains is to keep a board with you . Drive up on it then lay the chain on top of the tire. Youll never have to drive over a chain
