I always tell someone in your position (wanting to be an O/O) talk to the insurance companies first. You can not get a authority without the insurance. It really is only two that right new policies Progressive and Berkshire Hathaway. You more than likely we have trouble. During a certain time(don't know why)they will not write policies for a new authority. The cost will be astronomical at times. If this is your issue the alternative would be to lease onto a carrier for a while.Mib4u Thanks this.

I recently became a member of OOIDA and obtained my MC and DOT numbers. They will file your BOC3 and give you an insurance quote. I have yet to receive my quote from them but my personal agent has Progressive underwrite for him and I was given a quote for 15,500 over a year and OOIDA has stated that is a very close number for newbies. Ouch.Mib4u Thanks this.

15,500 is a good number for a new authority. Actually it is a great number compared to what I have heard quotes for some new authority.Shanebklyn and OldeSkool Thank this.

I forgot about OOIDA. I didn't think they would. I stand informed

Progressive is all about that credit score. If you have a good one you'll get a much better rate.
