It's their truck. They paid thousands of dollars for it, and the taxes, maintenance, and the fuel and pay you to drive it. When you buy a truck, you make the rules. Or go to a company that allows them.

Company I drive for bought and installed 1800 watt inverters on all the trucks. I'm glad I don't have to worry about this stuff!

Yeah at orientation in Lancaster last week they said "no inverters, not even the small plug in kind". They said you can be terminated if one is found.

They also said NO CELL PHONE USE (not even handsfree).

So basically they want us to drive, spend our pay check in the truck stops and nothing else.

It's possible they can see you too.

They have to say no across the board even though chances are nothing would ever happen in 99.9% of the trucks with plug in inverters.

I would say, do what you gotta do. Understand just because it says 300 or 400 watts inverter doesn't mean you can pull that much from the cigarette lighter plug. I have a 100 watt crock pot that will melt down the plug of my 400 watt inverter. So for that I take it inside the terminal and plug it into the wall socket while watching TV to heat up a can of soup or something.

Common sense, when it comes time to put your truck in the shop, toss the inverter in your duffel bag along with all your other valuables and hold it til you get your truck back. Once you give the shop guy your keys you are not allowed back inside the truck, so grab everything you think you will need for the next few hours and possibly day because if they can't fix it, you'll be sent to a local hotel.
