My favorite military food was in the reserve actually. My Nosc is at Joint base Andrews. Fracking Air Force. Will never forget that first day there, wondering the galley with my tray looking for where I'm supposed to take it. And the nice civilian lady that told me that if I want seconds or I'm ready to leave I can just leave it on the table and she'll clean up after me...........
That and the "barracks" at lackland afb... Single bedroom with attached bathroom and maid service every day. Seriously?NavigatorWife and LindaPV Thank this. -
I eat breakfast at them mostly. Usually get a giant to go box for about $5 or $6 that serves as lunch as well. DELICIOUS !!!! Usually giant mound of bacon and potatoes. Occasionally I'll get something in the afternoon.
Almost always to go. For some reason the one in Amarillo has awesome steaks. I imagine they all come from some national account, but that was always has an awesome steak.
Like I like the food in the fuel islands at Carlisle, N. Las Vegas, sometimes even Kingman, better than the buffet. Depends on the cook.
They all aren't created equal, but I'll defend the Skillet.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Oh man. Three times in the 72 man berthing. Your stacked three high. It's actually better than the 18 man berthing in the bow. Did that once. The catapults have left permanent psychological damage. There was a 12 man PO berthing that we got to use, but too many people were getting in trouble, and it was pretty rotten, so they basically sealed it off lol.
72 wasn't as bad as you might think. Sometimes you don't sleep for 3 days though. Your just wired. If flight ops are hot and heavy, you get a pretty good workout, so it's easier to sleep then. All in all, it sucks, bad, never forgive myself for not going Army lol.texasbbqbest Thanks this. -
I have an uncle who was a pipe fitter in the Navy. He's about 6'3".

I don't know how he did it.NavigatorWife and texasbbqbest Thank this. -
Maybe he didn't #### on his hands, so no need to wash.tucker Thanks this.

Petro is still worth eating at, at least the ones on my route are. TA blows, every steak now other than a hamburger or chopped steak is $17.99 and up and the menu has shrunk to hell. Salad bars at Petro are much better too
NavigatorWife, BostonTanker and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
The TA in Holbrook AZ has a little deli which will make you a to order cheeseburger or burrito or the like. Pretty good, hot food home cooking feel to it.
The Petro in Kingman AZ, boom now that fuel island deli is the best. Big fat custom ordered burritos. Plus they have Dunkin Donuts for coffee and turbo shot. Speaking of DD, there's another one at the Petro in Amarillo x76 I think. Anytime I see DD it's time for a coffee turbo.texasbbqbest and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.
