I've hit 3 deer and one bear at 70+ mph and it never did more than dent the bumper. It did more damage going under the truck and ripping off air lines. One deer ended up between my rear axles and the drive shaft tore it to shreds
wifi_guru, Bud A., Kyle G. and 1 other person Thank this. -
shatteredsquare and wifi_guru Thank this.

I remember back in the day before camera's...Schneider, Jb Hunt, Simon, MS Carriers, used to train...
If it's a deer it jumped out it front you. Did not have enought time to react. This is what you say to the accident interview.
Moose or bear, I tried to avoid a life altering event. -
Most of our trucks have them, and they sure look cool but I can't say how useful they actually are as I have never hit anything with mine.
Bud A. Thanks this. -
Yes… yes…. Yes…. 20k in damage or 5k in a herd bumper..,
shatteredsquare and Kyle G. Thank this. -
One word - Yes.
Beleive me as Short Fuse said 20k in damage or 5k in a bumper.shatteredsquare Thanks this. -
The guy I work for won't put them on the trucks. We seem to hit a lot of deer, but it usually just takes the bumper. I guess the trucks have enough ground clearance that they just roll underneath, or bounce to the side. I guess if we ran the cookie cutter aerodynamic trucks, it'd be different, and we'd have herd bumpers.
If it was MY truck, I'd spend the coin on one. I just like the lookKyle G. Thanks this. -
