Location: MN That may explain your better then average mileage with Big Red. Yes, prior to elogs, making it fit(IOW, cheating on your logs) was not only encouraged but demanded.
Must have been similar to the 6-stop Frys/Smith's (Phx Kroger DC) I did in Vegas many years ago. Early 'scheduled' unloads where the 1st 2 stops were in 'safety zones' where no trucks or vehicles were allowed in the back of the shopping center til after 6 AM!! 2 of the stops were just to drop 1 pallet of produce (strawberries).
I've never liked multi stop loads, especially with Knight. Look closely..they shorten the paid miles. It all evens out but your bumping more docks thus wasting your time. I used to never get my stop pay. I'd tell my DM and he would "look into it" Still didn't get paid, he'd "look into again" Finally call payroll and they would say "Oh yea I just haven't had time too enter it. So once I waited a month and called about it and "oh we overlooked it" ## Knight! Who would like this company?
Bumping Docks?!! What's that... ... Knight drivers BEWARE of Kay Bee Toys loads out of Phx (Glendale), that are 8-10 stops tailgate unloads at shopping centers/malls w/o loading docks, and also must p/u return products to go back to the DC...Fun!!!
You are right, that may be the reason. Pretty "lean and mean" up here, just 2 people in the office, miles aren't a problem. And I can't remember the last time they sent me someplace for an empty that it wasn't there (and they always adjust the miles to include that "search", also). Of course, we have to deal with the insane winter temps up here.
Think I'd rather deal with those temps than the stuff you have to put up with in Phoenix and So Cal. Particularly when it comes to trying to find trailers. Most everything else, I could take with a grain of salt. . .
