What about sexually harassing your DM? Worked well for me at one outfit I was with. Generally works best if your DM is of the opposite sex, though.
-
I've had 2 DM's.
With each, I've made it a point to meet with them personally.
At least once.
Lunch? Flowers? Nope. (Although, my first DM was pretty enough to send flowers to... nice enough, as well.)
Just a face to go with the name/number, for each of us.
That's all it really takes.
That, and don't call too often to gripe.
But, talking about things that make you both 'click'?
They are usually pretty busy, and too much idle talk just takes away from their own performance.
They usually just want the facts, and only the facts. Then it is on to other calls. So I try to keep it short and simple and quick and professional.
And I am treated very well, so...
Although, when I met my current DM my daughter was riding along with me, so he met her as well.
She was going into her sophomore year in high school, and he mentioned to her the true/literal meaning of 'sophomore' - the wise fool.
We all had a laugh about that.
He still asks about her, and my other daughters.
So yes, it is better being more than a simple number.
I am in a pod, so I have another alternate DM as well.
Never met him, but he treats me as one of his own. I have even called him just to yell at someone (and I told him so when I called), and he took it like a champ.
Thing is, you get treated as you treat.

It don't count if the DM and the rest of the office are ROTFL at you son.

If the trucker is married, I could see that being VERY bad advice. Let's see, the person being sexually harrassed could get the trucker fired and file a court case about it which could end up with the trucker being on a sexual offender registry for life + the wife would then find out and take a substantial amount of the driver's remaining assets and income for the rest of his life in the divorce.

I've never gotten personal with any supervisor. I do my job well and if they expect "gifts" then their just an idiot. I've excelled at every job I have had because I get the job done. This benefits ME, I really could care less about the company.
-
Sorry, it was meant as a joke. Since I'm perpetually single, I don't worry about the same stuff as marrieds do. -
No your married to a truck I presume.....

Its normal with the mega carriers. But you would think your dispatcher would see your message within an hr.If whatever you have to say to him you feel is important then I would call him.Maybe ask him if he would stat responding to my messages sooner. One of my dispatchers was like that and by the time she got around to answering me,I forgot all about it,lol.

Not at a mega carrier (293 trucks) and the terminal is small and dedicated to one account so no DM. I'm friendly to everyone I speak with. Friendly but not a kiss ace.
