So teaching new drivers that the world is full of rainbows, and beautiful white unicorns... in which all will go as planned in their pretty little world, is a legitimate teaching method?

You don't have reward cards for all the truck stops yet. If you fuel, use your reward cards and you will have free showers.

tell safety for sure. doesnt have to be that way. im also w melton and they do ask you how your trainer was once you get your own truck. but def call safety about him, my trainer told me about guys like that and how some trainees just deal with it to get it over with, but then those kinds of guys stay trainers because noone says anything about them.

he let me use his showers, set me up with all the rewards cards, hell even bought me lunch, breakfast, or dinner multiple times. now whenever i run into him i try to buy him a meal for all hes shown me.

Being a trainer myself I find it completley irresponsible that he is training you to break the law Yeah it may be a fault in the qualcom system but dosent give him any right to teach you to cheat the system thats for you to find out on your own.. What happens lets say if he has a accident and he has to account for all this distance driven while supposibly being off duty. and also just to let you know qualcom has a way to track if your moving while off duty and he would not know that because you have to be in administator mode which he does not have access to. So he might want to rethink things before someone leaks it to the company that he is doing this or that he gets in a accident and they check the data either way for sure he would lose his job on a federal violation:biggrin_25513:

Chances are, if he gets into an accident he will lose his job anyway. This is our problem. However, it would take extensive investigation to find something like this, and they would likely find several other violations first. (ie breaks being out of adjustment... to anything like not have washer fluid).

Not only is he NOT qualified to be a trainer...he's shouldn't be allowed to be a driver either...for someone to tell a student that once a week shower is how it is, is simply gross..that's bad enough then you add in that he's pulling flatbed and tarping...he should be taken around back and hosed down with a pressure washer...

I've smelled people so bad at truck stops, shippers, receivers, scale houses that they could literally chase the flies away.

Smokers dont usually bother me, but a few weeks ago I waited for almost 1/2 hour in the check in room at a Walmart DC. I sat next to a guy that reeked so bad of cigarettes that it literally gave me a headache. It was literally that overpowering.

I dont know how anyone can live with themselves being so nasty, and not let the smell get to them.

Unless its cold and I do near zero work, I usually smell myself after 2 days if I dont at least re apply sone deodorant, and after 2 days without a shower I am usually screaming for one, though waiting that long for one doesn't happen often.

If you can smell yourself, mutliply that times 5 and thats what all the people around you are smelling.

I dont believe that is what they meant... The teaching method is that you train and teach a new driver to drive safe, effeciently and legally. ... when they get out on their own they will more than likely learn and pick up bad habits..

If as a trainer you do a pre trip every morning.. then when your trainee is on their own, hopefully they will do a couple pre trips a week... it is just basic management.. if you want employees to be on time, then as a manager you need to always be 15 minutes early..... so, if as a trainer you are training how to cheat and cut corners you are setti g the trainee up for trouble... violations... they do things the way you taught them and when DOT is going through their logs they find violations..

Melton is a good company and I am sure they expect. Etter of their trainers...

I disagree. Over 26,000 you are a commercial vehicle, on duty. You also are on duty any time you're under dispatch. You're using your semi as "personal conveyance" when bobtail, and not dispatched. Who cares? There are 3+ million drivers, how many can they audit?
