I have a plug-in inverter.
And I leave it in the open when in the shop.
No one has ever said anything to me about it.
And from what I have experienced in the past few months, the miles paid are more closely matching the miles driven now.
Is it possible to disable the idle shutdown bypass remotely?

It wouldn't surprise me if they could tweak the ECM remotely. I gotta say though, if they do, that is dirty low down.
-
I agree.
But if they did do that I doubt pushing the brake peddle would have worked.
Most likely it is just a glitch that I found a workaround for. -
that kind of practice has been going on for years.
i drove a 99 FL dump truck that did the same thing. if i was pulling a trailer. i could simply use the trailer park brake and the truck stayed running. -
And then when something goes wrong with the truck and the mechanic finds out you tampered with the truck, you'll be fired.....
Remember, you're driving THEIR truck, not yours. -
Where did he say he tampered with the truck. Normally he would tap the clutch to over ride the idle shutdown. In the Volvos I have driven, the way Swift sets them up is that either the clutch or the brake pedal can be used to over ride the shutdown. He didn't do anything out of the ordinary.

Moosetek u must really love swift.

What type of truck do you have? I've had the same issue with my truck where maybe 1 out of 5 times depressing the clutch when the engine light starts flashing won't override the idle cut off but pressing the brake will. I've got a 2013 T660,and I've just gotten used to it and chalked it up as a quirk of the truck.

So I go grab an mt at the terminal this morning for my load and head out to the shipper.
And then I had 3 problems, as the cruise control and engine brake were not working.
When I got to the shipper I sent a message that I was going to detour to the terminal to get it checked.
On the way I did a little experiment - I lifted up on the clutch peddle, and both the cruise and engine brake were working again.
Turns out the problem might just be a spring or something, because the clutch peddle was not coming all the way up. It was like 1/4 inch down.
I took the cover off to see if I could see anything but I couldn't see a popped spring, just that the switch was not being depressed.
So I grabbed a bungee cord to hold it up and all is fine.
The idle shutdown abort is working with the clutch again, as well.
Next time I am in the shop for anything I'll have them fix it properly. -
it might be the switch in the pedal thats going out, the volvo I had did the same, someone else told me to lift the pedal when my cruise and jakes werent working and it fixed the issue.
For the override shutdown I have tried the trailer brakes set and leaving the truck released and mine still shuts down.
Its annoying waiting 5 minutes for the light to come on, I havent been able to figure out setting the throttle/cruise speed either.
