The cruise trick is for Cascadia's, I believe. Or maybe ProStar.
It doesn't work with the Volvo.
It isn't the switch.
When I had the cover off I could see what was happening.
The switch has a solid mount and the switch arm is a 3" spring rod. When the clutch is fully out the bracket pushes against the spring arm and closes the switch.
Depress the clutch 1/4 inch or so, and the switch opens.
The switch has to be closed until the auto shutdown message is displayed, and then the opened switch cancels it.
If the switch is already open, like when the clutch peddle does not fully come up, depressing the clutch will not do anything.
And the cruise and engine brake are set to disengage if that switch is open, so they will never engage if it is already open.
Is it possible to disable the idle shutdown bypass remotely?

I have the prostar, I couldnt figure out how to get the throttle to work so I just wait the 5 min and hit the clutch

If they ever were to remotely shut off your truck a simple trick would be to get under the truck and disconnect the drive line, then start the truck up and put it in LO gear and let it idle in place.
Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
My 2012 Cascadia was able to bypass by hitting the brake peddle and then hitting the cruise and the jake. I now have a 2014, and it doesn't work like that. But sometimes, on it's own, it will idle all nite long, without doing anything. I just never know.
