Not necessarily with this company.
No dog in the fight either, I’ve been an owner op last 3 years. -
In Columbus anyway, bottom drivers are killing it at OD. 500-600 miles per night starting in the middle of their payscale.blairandgretchen Thanks this.

That doesn’t necessarily mean babysitting a telephone.
We don’t do that and never have. All our bottom guys have to deal with is being what we call a “floater”, which means you don’t have a bid run yet, but they all work every day.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
But it is a reality that almost all LTLs operate under a seniority system where bottom men get the less desirable runs or schedules. That is the case union and non-union alike. But I agree that bottom men at union companies tend to suffer more in general in terms of layoffs and time spent on call.blairandgretchen Thanks this.

I don’t see, in this current Market , given rates and lack of good hands -
That a qualified driver should put up with a drip fed paycheck.
Union shops may need to catch up with current economic conditions or suffer the consequences.Bob Dobalina and DSK333 Thank this. -
Really? FedEx, Estes, OD, XPO ALL have extra boards and use a seniority based system, also all non union.

What kills me these days is the company brining in guys on a Sunday to work double time, and they already have bids so they are working all week anyhow. But the guys on call, get maybe 3 days of work for the week. I understand to a certain amount, but surely OT should be given when everyone has a full week?
bottomdumpin and Bob Dobalina Thank this.
