Is it worth it to get a driver camera facing the road?

Go ahead and get one. It will be a tool to further your training. Use it to examine your backup movements into a dock for example. Or a decisiom making cycle pulling into a lot.

I myself would loved to have had a camera in my day long ago. But it was a different time and today all you need really is a micro SD memory card capable of fitting into either a camera or a cellphone to run video if necessary in front of the Law at a accident. You can get a adaptor to transfer it to a USB Port for a PC or Laptop to process same to upload.

I like videos of trucking, sometimes a situation comes up and it's worth replaying a thousand times for one reason or another. Other times it's not exactly what you want. I just draw the line at driver facing cameras even though there was a very recent one showing a trucker refusing to let go of his precious cell phone on which he was texting prior to his world coming off the bridge as it were with his tanker. (Did they ever catch that fugitive?)

My favorite lean towards mountain work. Especially when a driver demonstrate professionalism and physics done right just so coming down.

This is from my Garmin C10,
Without the camera I would have been the only person to witness this, but now it can be archived and viewed 20 million years from now ,

And if you cause the wreck, hide and delete the dash cam

I've had one for several years. Upgraded twice as new technology comes out.
My advice is for you to get one when you get into your own truck.
There are several different types, based on what you are looking for.
A decent dash cam will run between $100-200 based on features.
Most can hook into a gps with an extra cable, some have gps built in for tagging your recordings.
Either way, it is a very good idea to start your research now. You can go on Google, YouTube and other sources to start looking at options, pricing, etc..
There's even some sights that have videos of actual field tests.
Bottom line is that because of the way to many people choose to conduct themselves around big rigs, a dash cam is almost a necessity.

    Ooops Thanks this.

That just looked like a student getting off his trainer's truck.

Protect yourself with a dashcam. Illegal Princess Passers try to push you off the road, you have footage of them crossing over the double yellow lines or 4wheelers who cross over your path and mix it up with you, most of the time it is considered the big truck driver's fault. Video footage would prove your innocence.

I have one in my truck (provided by employer) and my car (Walmart special: picture isn't great quality, but it'll do for personal use for now).
We have the KDlinks X1 in our trucks. Somewhat spendy (currently $169 on Amazon), but picture quality is very good,, and it can record audio if you desire. Be sure to get a minimum 32g memory card for adequate recording time. Ours originally came with 8g cards, they only record up to 3 hours.
