I did....once high school I worked 2 jobs to help with college. During a 4 months period I had 3 jobs. Factory, fast food, n a pop company.

Now it's sad to see how hard I work just to slim 30k a year. Drove home tired everyday, even slept in my car in front of my job to get more sleep.

The driver shortage makes just about as much sense as the fuel shortage I can't seem to get away from. I am only willing to pay 1.00 per gallon for diesel. I can't find it anywhere! But if I pay the rate that the market will bear ... I can buy as much as I want ... HEY funny how that works, isn't it?

Don't forget that for every CDL holder that is actually making use of their CDL, there are 2 more who have a CDL but are not using it and working elsewhere. If there really was a shortage, wages would go up and you would have people coming out of the woodwork and demanding high pay - and they would get it. No? They will keep working their other job.

NO SUCH THING AS A DRIVER SHORTAGE!

The last 2 times I took a shower, I found that I threw 3 clean socks in my shower bag, then I have to keep track of that extra sock and make sure it gets placed back
With the clean socks, plus the choice of which 2 to wear and who to throw back.

Dunno, you can make 12 putting spindles in a box at some line work job through a temp service... not far off. A little OT and your at 30 grand... theres only 2 things you need to make good money, specialize your skill set. (Get good at what others dont) and CYA (dont f up stupid like) :)

I couldn't agree more....There is no driver shortage. What there is....is a shortage of companies that treat a driver worth a #### to keep them employed. If you have a driver that is not a truck stop commando, can get his load picked up and delivered on time, and not tear up the truck, then they should be paid enough to keep them. You see the larger fleets that churn through 200 to 300 drivers a week in orientation They may only hire 150 of them but they know that they are going to lose a bunch that week. That's why the big companies spend so much on new hires....they keep them dumb and hope they stay long enough for them to make a boat load on them. Now if I've offended any of you. I don't apologize because I'm speaking from experience. I've been there and done that and made it through with the shirt still on my back. I had some help and some decent folks who help look after me because the trucking business does an outstanding job on eating it's own. OK....that's my 2 cents.

Otr companys being desperate means about as much as saying mcdonalds is desperate for teenagers who will work for min wage. They wouldnt be desperate if they paid well and treated well. There desperate to fix a problem they caused. Not the same as a shortage... :)
