They can make even more at some places with a full benefit package. Look at the sherwin Williams thread for one. Estes. Old dominion. And more. He’s paying good but he just said he has no benefits to speak of.BeHereNow97 Thanks this.

The pay is not the only thing keeping me at Sherwin Williams. It's all the other stuff. The dispatch folks NEVER eff with me. That is a HUGE quality of life perk!!N00bLaLoosh and bryan21384 Thank this.

I understand that! I certainly don't work for the highest paying company, but it fits me as a driver perfectly. You definitely want to make money, but chasing the highest pay ain't everything all the time. Sometimes a company that's a perfect ain't the highest paying, but steady paying. I never have to sit and I drive good equipment, and I when I'm ready to go home, they make it happen. They never bother me either, but if a driver does what he or she is supposed to do, they'll never get bothered.Midwest Trucker Thanks this.

They are better jobs if you don’t have benefits. They are better jobs if you make half the money. It’s a better paying job than what I have now BUT it’s striaght pay and I get overtime after 40 therefore it’s not a better move for me so I’m not going back to driving. You see there is no driver shortage. Just like the plant I’m at can’t keep help but there is no shortage of workers because they keep hiring them they just don’t stay.

There is definitely a shortage of workers in every industry. I think that economy and commerce has outgrown the population.....if you keep expanding and building and creating more jobs than you have workers, you've got a problem. It's not going away no time soon either. All these work from home jobs have been created. I don't think people are going to go work somewhere and possibly commute, when they can get the same pay working from home. I can see certain businesses going under, or larger ones downsizing, if that hasn't happened alreadyPlantfoam Thanks this.

Yup, the effects of the pandemic combined with 15 years of cheap money from the fed.
My analogy is that wages are like tectonic plates. They can only remain still for so long while the pressure builds...and we just had an earthquake. I'll see myself out.JolliRoger and bryan21384 Thank this. -
I like that analogy...I am going to bum that off of you lol

When they quit showing up to orientation then they will be a shortage of workers. Sorry there’s not.
