USxpress use to have backup lights on the back of their trailers in place of the extra brake lights(they had 1 brake light, 1 turn signal, and a backup light on each side of the rear of their trailers instead of 2 brake lights on each side like a lot of companies run)

Anyone have any idea how many lumens I would need if I put one on each corner if I backed into a place that was very dark?

I have found quite a few of them now online but they range kind of like from a utility light that you use on the back of your tractor to hook up your air lines and Electric to and ones that actually are halogen H3 bulbs like a headlight and some that are like 3750 lumens it will supposedly light up 52 meters which I think is what about 60 ft?

I just use the Grote par 36 work lights. They are basically a bright spot light bulb that the beam fans out a little bit like a highbeam on an old school quad headlight setup. Aim them angled out a bit and bright enough to see around the back good.

It probably wouldn't take a lot to provide a lot of help seeing. Just having lots of amber chicken lights helps brighten up a dark area. The same lights you see on a flatbed headache rack should be more than enough. And not terribly expensive either.

I've been off the road since 2013.
I seem to recall US Expess had them.
And then they were gone .
That tells me there's an issue.
20 years trucking. 3 of the biggest fleets. I NEVER had backup lights on a trailer.
    I would like them.

Our gas/lp trailers all have six worklights spaced around-super handy as a night guy.
The joke around the yard is you can always tell the trucks that belong to the night guys-we make sure all our work lights work.

    3 foot to 1 meter
So 156 foot is lit up .

    Dino,i would advise 4 things.
Firstly ,buy LED not halogen.(they can be bought very cheap)

Second, run a extra pigtail and cable for stuff like that.
It will put less stress on your regular pigtails and wires.

Thirdly, use fuses for all extra's you put on the truck or trailer.
Give each system it's own fuse.

Lastly ,make diagrams off all supplementary wiring and extra lights you put on.(with th color codes off your wires)
