99% of what you'll hear on here is negative comments on lease(fleece)/purchase programs.

can't give you flowery positive words on bad deals and why should we?

If you’re looking for folks to help you justify terrible ideas, you’re in the wrong place. $26k for at best, a $10k truck, 70% with no FSC, is terrible deal. This is business, it doesn’t exist on wants, desires and BS dreaming, it’s all based on math and money. Math and money, if they don’t add up, it won’t work. No emotion at all. Cold and ruthless, the math and money don’t care if you’re starving, or your baby is starving, the numbers are the numbers. Good luck, but you have to be a hustler and not the one that gets hustled.

Why waste your time? Do you really think this guy who has an overpriced truck, steals the fuel surcharge and is offering just enough work to keep you poor is going to change his mind--suddenly become realistic and altruistic--because of a thread on the Internet? Move on!

P.S. Welcome to modern-day exploitative sharecropping.

Stay away from anyone keeping your fuel surcharge.

Yes trucking is very cut throat and ruthless. There are many honest people out there too but far more dishonest. Everyone has to make a buck to survive and unfortunately someone in your position is going to be at the bottom of the totem pull taking the shaft.

The truck is probably a $10,000 truck if you had CASH. I recently had a guy ask me to finance a truck I have for sale. I thought about it and my price rose significantly because I will be taking on significant risk. As far as the lease goes we need more details. If he’s running spot market there really is no fuel surcharges, you just give an all in price when you negotiate the load.

2004 Columbia are going for $12k in Truck paper, and that's from a dealer. So obviously its marked up. $8k cash buyer all day long.

Who is paying for the fuel? If the fuel is paid for, **entirely,** by the company you are hauling for, then sure, no fuel surcharge would be fair. After all, the reason it exists is to help pay for fuel.

Let me throw a couple numbers at you. When I'm staying busy, I use between 90 and 110 gallons of fuel per day, six days a week, and I am required to shut down for a break after six days. If I pay $2.50 per gallon, that's an average of $250.00 per day in fuel. $1500 per week in fuel.

If I understand right, they are saying the truck will make 1500 per week. You do the math. 1500 - 1500 = ?

Like I said, the numbers change drastically if the fuel is paid for by someone else. But otherwise... Well... Zero is not a good income BEFORE truck maintenance and driver food.
